Miranda Richmond Mouillot
August 9, 2015
An Asheville native, Miranda Richmond Mouillot set out to understand her grandparents and the demise of their relationship better, spending time with her grandfather in Geneva, exchanging letters with her grandmother in New York, and traveling to the home they bought in La Roche, France. Her attempts to recreate their lives before, during, and after the Holocaust resulted in A Fifty-Year Silence: Love, War, and a Ruined House in France. A beautiful testament to the author’s grandparents and the relationships she had with both of them, A Fifty-Year Silence offers a view of history from a deeply personal perspective. Mouillot, a writer and translator, now lives in France with her husband and daughter.
